Our wonder mama this month is the inspiring, resilient, courageous and excellent yummy mummy-Turia Pitt. Turia is an Australian mining engineer, humanitarian, athlete, motivational speaker, author, wife and mum.
Turia went from being told she'll never walk, run or be independent again to competing in the Iron-man World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
In 2011, at the age of 24, her life was turned upside down. While competing in a 100km ultra marathon in the Australian outback, she encountered an out of control grass fire. Trapped by the blaze, she suffered full thickness burns to 65% of her body.
Turia was choppered out of the remote desert barely alive and wasn’t expected to survive. She lost seven of her fingers, spent over six months in hospital, underwent over 200 operations and spent two years in recovery.
Against overwhelming odds, the wonder mama defied every expectation placed on her and rebuilt her life.
In 2016, she achieved a goal she’d been working towards since the early days of her recovering; competing in her first Ironman competition in May, followed by the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
"Kona was a gruelling experience that taught me over and over again that when we get our mindset right, we truly can achieve anything," said the best selling author.
Over the years, she’s written multiple books, been honoured with multiple awards, mentored thousands of people to achieve their greatest goals through her online programs and joined one of her personal heroes, Tony Robbins, as a headline speaker at the 2018 National Achievers Congress.
Advice to mothers/women:
"Defy every expectation placed on you and rebuild your life."
